VIVO IPLT20 Match Result DD VS RCB

For most part of the league stages of VIVO IPL 2016, the bowling department had been a bugbear for Royal Challengers Bangalore. But not on Sunday evening when they came up against the Delhi Daredevils in the final league fixture of the season. In a crucial do-or-die contest, the RCB bowlers brought their ‘A’ game to the park and strangled the Delhi Daredevils to a modest 138-8. When it was their turn to chase, RCB rode on a half-century from their run-machine – skipper Virat Kohli – to chase down the runs in the 19th over. The 6-wicket win meant RCB, who had won only two of their first seven matches of the season, not only qualified for the Playoffs, but also finished the league stage at second place and will therefore have two chances of qualifying for the final. The defeat meant the end of the road for the Delhi Daredevils, who finish with seven wins and as many defeats.

But before I leave, here’s something to let you NOT sleep – the last five IPLs have been won by second-placed teams on the points table. If you ever get reprimanded for missing that first rank, flash this statistic and numb your critic. A final ta-ta!
DD vs RCB – Man of The Match – Virat Kohli

Honestly those stats (about me) have mostly reached me through images but I choose not to look at it. Every game is an opportunity to win it for your team. We were at No. 7 position in the table, an impossible situation, and now we have two chances at the final, having finished at No. 2. I tried to make the most of my batting form and take the team through. Our focus has paid off. It’s not easy but you have to start afresh everyday. I know it sounds boring and traditional but it has to be boring. Everyday has to be made use of, if you are a sportsman at this level. I am extra motivated when I come on to the field and make sure I work hard off the field as well. It’s very important to not get rude or arrogant about your form or about how you strike the ball. There will be a few incidents, people will have a go at you on the field, but after the chat is done, you have to get back to the basics. There is a very thin line between overconfidence and being calm about your skill.

KL Rahul :

One of the players who has been instrumental in RCB’s success has been KL Rahul. The wicketkeeper-batsman, who has scored four half-centuries in the tournament so far, made a timely 38 from 23 balls in the last league game against the Delhi Daredevils and helped RCB seal a spot in the final four. Joining his captain in the middle at 17 for two, the Karnataka batsman set the pace for the 138-run chase as Kohli anchored the innings.
